Abusive Relationships

Nineteen-year-old Lynn Kenney is one of a growing number of women abused by their boyfriends. Through Lynn's story viewers will learn what it means to be abused in a relationship. Whether the abuse is physical or verbal, the effects can be serious. Teenagers will also learn some of the warning signs of potential abuse and where they can go for help. This program serves as media support for Health, Guidance, and Life Skills units on dating violence, rape prevention, survival and coping, safety and injury prevention, self esteem, family life, conflict resolution, violence prevention, and resisting peer pressure.

Broken Wings: Men and Domestic Violence     VIDEO

Healing Sexual Abuse: An Empowerment Video for Women

Healing Sexual Abuse explains and dramatizes six key concepts for effective group therapy participation by women with a history of sexual abuse. Speak your feelings-Healing is related to what is going on inside-If its happening in the group, it is probably happening outside the group-Your group may feel like family, but it isn’t group participation not competition-The memory is not the experience. This video helps reduce pre-group anxiety, earn what to expect and how to function in a group, develops attitudes of support and caring, shows what has been learned can be unlearned, and provides guidelines for an effective group.

The Link Between Violence and Alcohol

It can help identify and understand this relationship in order to recommend treatment. This workshop design guide provides a step by step examination of how to use the

tries to hide in alcohol and pills. Video shows how a supporting group
can help victims heal.

No Safe Place: The Origins of Violence Against Women

This video interviews with women who have been assaulted, as well as with the men who committed the crimes. Goes behind the headlines and statistics to explore the origins of violence against women. No Safe Place stresses that
women learn early that they there are some things they cannot, or rather should not do and some places they should not go. It answers the questions of “is there a profile of men who batter their partners? Why don’t women leave abusive relationships? How does domestic violence affect children?

Rape Prevention       VIDEO
Teach students measures that can help prevent rape and show them what to do if it happens to them. This straightforward program defines rape and sexual assault, discusses its effect on victims, and illustrates how to protect oneself. Viewers will learn empowering tactics and will better understand the physical, psychological, and social aspects of rape and abuse.

Reaching deep inside themselves, these courageous women seek and find powerful inner resources that help them to rise above the trauma of personal loss each has experienced. Stories of Change is informative and truthful, and guides others to find their way.

Surviving Rape    
VIDEO
This video explains 5 stages of the grieving process that rape victims encounter, denial, anger, depression, bargaining, and acceptance. Five women- all rape survivors- share their experiences of rape and subsequent grief. Each woman’s road to recovery is different, they all share common feelings of shame, self hatred, and guilt before finally reaching acceptance and self love. They stress the importance of talking about the rape and seeking support from a group in order to begin the healing process.
