Survivors: Women Overcoming Domestic Abuse
Survivors captures the grief and pain of both the physical and
emotional anguish suffered by victims of domestic abuse • The graphic artwork which
blends from scene to scene tastefully depicts the violence of battering, holding the
viewer's attention • Using images which are sometimes abstract and other times
representational, the likeness reflect the state of mind of the person speaking and
illustrates the series of events and experiences as they are being described by survivors
• The artwork is rendered in ink and conte crayon, creating images which have a rough
visceral look • The soundtrack consists of interviews with women who have experienced
abuse and counselors who work with them • Winner of numerous awards including the
