Set within the context of Austen’s life and times, this program draws on the commentary of writer/director Nora Ephron, authors Helen Fielding and Fay Weldon, Wheelock College’s Marcia Folsom, Austen interpreter Judith French, and others to provide insights into the novel’s numerous themes: pride and prejudice, of course, and gender injustice, social stratification, the concept of virtue, and the institution of marriage as well.
