Most rapes are not committed by total strangers, but
rather by people who are known to the victims. Date rape is a violation of a
woman's body that's exacerbated by a violation of her trust. This program
explains how a failure to communicate effectively is at the heart of many
date rape situations. Young women can learn how to reduce their chances of
being victims of date rape and young men can learn how to avoid accusations
of date rape. When we acknowledge what date rape is and understand how it
occurs, it will happen less often.
Learning Objectives:
1) Students will learn that alcohol and drugs are strongly associated with
date rape.
2) Students will learn that differences in the socialization of boys and
girls create misunderstandings that can lead to date rape situations.
3) Students will learn what they should do if they are ever the victim of
acquaintance rape.Length: 23 minutes
