Aggressive Driving and Road Rage
Remind inexperienced young drivers about the often disastrous consequences of aggressive
driving and road rage. This important program explains that more than 40,000 people are
killed and many more are injured each year in automobile accidents and that many deaths
and injuries are the results of aggressive driving. Students will learn to differentiate
road rage and aggressive driving and will discover the factors that contribute to these
behaviors. The program describes steps to avoid aggressive drivers and demonstrates safe
driving practices, including using signals, yielding to speedy traffic, avoiding
tailgating, and using the horn and headlights appropriately. Also included are interviews
with persons convicted of aggressive driving, who explain that jail time, loss of a
driver's license, the cost of civil damages, and high insurance premiums are some of the
milder consequences of aggressive driving.
