AIDS appears to be as devastating to artists
today as World War I was to a whole generation of brilliant young artists
and writers who were wiped out on the battlefield. "Twenty—at least," is the
answer when one prominent dancer is asked how many artists he knows who have
died of AIDS. From Elizabeth Taylor, who pleads for research funds, to
Harvey Fierstein, who bemoans the untold talents lost, to a dancer who
continues to dance while dying of AIDS, this program shows the impact of
AIDS on a group very much in the headlines and the responsiveness of artists
to tragedy in their own lives. (20 minutes)
