In Time of War: Striking the Balance Between Freedom & Security

In a recent ABC News poll, 64 percent supported expanding FBI powers—62 percent also felt that such steps intrude on privacy. Clearly, the public is willing to sacrifice some rights in a time of crisis. But whose? In this program, correspondent Chris Bury examines all the new policies and practices in the aftermath of September 11th, focusing on measures previously forbidden to intelligence or law enforcement agents. Several perspectives are offered by the dean of the Catholic University Law School; a Harvard Law School professor; a former senior FBI official; and the executive director of The Council on American-Islamic Relations.
